Abstract:
Chronic inflammation contributes to the development of malnutrition ,atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease in maintenance hemodialysis patient. Prevalence of chronic inflammation has been found to be reflected by increase blood levels of hepatic acute phase reactants such as C reactive protein –fibrinogen lipoprotein (a) as well as by low albumin concentration.Alpha one antitrypsin is one of the acute phase protein synthesized mainly in liver and secreted in serum as a major Alpha one globulin component .Increase synthesis of Alpha one antitrypsin occur during inflammations along with transport of this globulin it counter acts the released proteolytic enzymes by the cells of corresponding the injury. The aim of this study was to establish whether changes in the levels of acute phase proteins having variable half -lives than CRP such as alpha one antitrypsin or complement C3 &C4 would predict future serum albumin levels and identify the early detection of chronic inflamation in maintenance haemodialysis patients .Subjects:This study comprised of 40 patients as well as 10 normal control subjects, divided in to 3 groups.Group (1): The control group composed of 10 apparently healthy( 3 male )and (7 females).Group (2): Composed of 20 patients with end stage renal disease under regular H.D 3 times weekly for (5-10) years,14 males and 6 females.
