Abstract:
the structure and position of the anorectal junction and the anorectal angle has found a great attention in numerous clinical and surgical aspects . It has an importance in cases of rectal prolapse , the spastic pelvic floor syndrome , frequently encountered in the solitary rectal ulcer syndrome , different types of anorectal fistulas and in the perineal descent syndrome .The anorectal junction is controlled by two sets of sphincter muscle and is kept closed by a sphincteric tube , the external and internal anal sphincters , the external anal sphincter is striated skeletal muscle that envelops the entire length of the internal anal sphincter which is a tube of smooth muscle . Between the IAS and EASpass the conjoined longitudinal muscle .Key words : anorectal junction sphincter muscle anatomy histology histochemistry anorectal angle arteries.
