| Abstract: |
Open rhinoplasty is a comparatively recent development in rhino- plastic surgery, although the concept of the surgical exposure has been well known since the turn of the century (Lessard and Daniel, 2002)(1).The closed technique of rhinoplasty is essentially done ’blind’, and most of the work is guided by tactile sensation. The surgeon generally doesn’t know precisely what subtle manipulation produce a particular desirable effect (Lessard and Daniel, 2002) (1).In the open technique of rhinoplasty, surgeon has the nasal structure displayed before him so surgical techniques can be more precise under direct vision. The surgeon quickly learns what the structure of an aesthetically pleasing nose looks like and how it relates to the overall contour of the nose including the skin (Lessard and Daniel, 2002) (1).In this issue we try to evaluate the technique of open rhinoplasty and compare the results of different centres all over the world.
