Abstract:
ethics can be defined as ”a generic term for various ways of interpreting the moral life”. Ethics has been an integral part of the medical profession since the time of Hippocrates. Recent developments have brought ethical issues in medicine to the forefront of public consciousness. The need for greater knowledge and recognition, of clinical bioethical issues begins at the level of medical schools. Anesthesiologists may have their own difficulties complying with ethical guidelines. As ethical issues occur daily in the practice of anesthesiology. In fact, the entire patient encounter exists within a moral context. Occasionally, values and goals conflict. These conflicts are resolved in a variety of ways. But, most practicing anesthesiologist today have had little if any formal ethics training.Bioethical issues are represented as well as ethical issues, surrounding end-of-life topics such as refusing life-sustaining care, the order not to resuscitate status in the operation room, and determining brain death. The development and practical application of informed consent are thoroughly reviewed.
