Abstract:
The aim of this study was to compare the results of dobutamine stress echocardiography in hypertensive and normotensive patients with coronary syndrome X, this is to highlight the pathogenic mechanism and clinical significance of chest pain in hypertensive populations.- Coronary syndrome X is, and may continue for long to be, a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge the cardiologists have to face.- Neither hypertensive nor normotensive coronary syndrome X patients develop regional wall motion abnormalities during stress echocardiography.- These negative findings may indicate the absence of significant ischemia in both groups.- However, a mild patchy ischemia secondary to microvascular dysfunction cannot be excluded and may be beyond the detection limit of the technique.- Dobutamine stress echocardiography may be not an ideal diagnostic tool for dealing with coronary syndrome X patients..
