Effects of Cisplatin and Gentamicin Treatment on the Histological Structure of the Renal Cortex in Guinea Pig

Cancer patients treated with cisplatin and suffering from infections are frequently treated consecutively with one of the aminoglycoside antibiotics, especially gentamicine. Both of these drugs are nephrotoxic 9 Kohn et al., 20050. Nephrotoxicity is a common disorder in clinical practice and should be sought by clinicians seeking to understand the cause of renal diseases and syndromes. So, our study was performed aiming to cllarify the histological alterations occurring in renal cortices of guinea pigs treated with cisplatin alone and in combination with the aminoglycoside antibiotic, gentamicin.
