Abstract:
Because of the importance of intestinal bacterial overgrowth in the pathogenesis of NAFLD, treatments such as antibiotics and probiotics may influence the evolution of the disease. Probiotics, in contrast to antibiotics, are inexpensive, safe and have no known negative long-term effects. So, in this study we will try to evaluate the role of probiotics on the outcome of NAFLD in humans and to clarify their effects on the levels of TNF-α as a major factor incriminated in the pathogenesis of NAFLD.
