Abstract:
Studies of morbidity and mortality have revealed that the majority of complications associated with anaesthesia result from inadequate training or inadequate experience of the anaesthetist. Anaesthesia equipments may transfer energy in undesired forms directly to the patients. Thermal and electrical injuries are the result. Anaesthesia equipments may cause many complications as hypoxemia, which may result from:1- Hypoxic inspired gas mixture.2- poventilation.3- Inadvertent endobronchial intubation.Increased or decreased airway pressures are hazardous to the patient, and are the result of equipment failure. Deep anaesthesia is another equipment complication which may result from pumping effect of the ventilator, overfilled, misfiled or miscalibrated vaporizer.Monitoring instruments may also contribute to patient morbidity and mortality if they fail to provide data or provide inaccurate data. Inappropriate clinical management is likely when decision- making is based on inaccurate data. Infection control is among the most important procedures to ensure the safety of patients and medical personnel. The safety considerations monitor and quipment issues for intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging are similar to the conventional setting. However, they differ in their focus on anaesthesia management.
