Abstract:
Pneumonia is inflammation and consolidation of the lung caused by infectious agents. It is remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide and has significant financial implications for health¬care systems. Pneumonia remains a major reason for admission to hospital and a common cause of death. Moreover, bacterial infections are judged to cause at least half of episodes of pneumonia, and it is advised that the choice of antibiotics is important because the rise in bacterial resistance has made older agents less effective.Pulmonary infection, in such circumstances, may be caused by bacteria, fungi, atypical agents, viruses, and /or parasites. On the other hand, nosocomial pneumonia is the leading cause of death from nosocomial infection.
