Abstract:
CD117 is considered as an important molecule for stromal-dependent proliferation of normal hematopoietic cells, it is implicated to have some function in promoting the proliferation of myeloid leukemic cells in vivo.- To extend these observations, our study was designed to asses significance of CD117 expression in different phases of CML and its value to differentiate between myeloblastic crisis and lymphoblastic crisis and to evaluate correlation, if any, between CD117 expression and other myeloid markers expression .- The study comprised of four groups containing twenty patients of accelerated and blastic crisis, ten patients of chronic myeloid leukemia and ten cases of leukomoid reaction.- All of them were subjected to the following:.1- Full history and complete clinical examination.2- Complete blood picture using (sysmex. S.f. 2003).3- Bore marrow examination in blastic and accelerated phase.4- Cytochemical study as peroxidase test and leukocyte alkaline phosphatase for chronic group and leukomoid group.5- Specific investigation: immune phenotyping of blast cells using Becton Dickinson. Leukemia phenotyping reagent kit including. Cd117 using flowcytometry.
