PROGNOSTIC VALUE OF URINARY RETINOL

In this work urinary retinol binding protein level has been studied in both diabetic and hyperuriceamic nephropathy to find out if there is any relationship between the progression of renal disease and urRBP level.This study was conducted on 50 subjects. They were divided into 3 main groups.Control group (I): comprised 10 apparently healthy subjects, 5 males and 5 females, matched for age and sex.Diabetic group (II): comprised of 24 type 1 diabetic patients classified as follows:Subgroup (IIa) comprised of 8 normoalbuminuric diabetic patients. (3 males and 5 females).Subgroup (IIb) comprised of 8 microalbuminuric diabetic patients. (2 males and 6 females).Subgroup (II e) comprised of 8 macroalbuminuric diabetic patients. (4 males and 4 females).Hyperuriceamic group (III): comprised of 16 hyperuriceamic patients classified as follows:Subgroup (IIIa) comprised of 8 proteinuric chronic gouty patients (5 males and 3 females).
