Abstract:
This work was carried in Department of Internal Medicine andDepartment of Ophthalmology -Zagazig University, from June 2001 toMarch 2003.The study includes 40 patients who attend outpatient clinicand Ophthalmology Department as well as 10 healthy control subjects.In. this study, we aimed to study the serum level of VEGF inpatients with diabetic microvascular complications a part from diabeticretinopathy (10 patients), diabetic nephropathy (20;patients) and diabetescomplicated by myocardial infarction (10 patients). Also we correlate thelevel of serum VEGF with different clinical .and laboratory parameters, ofthe patients. All groups were subjected to clinical examination, ’laboratoryinvestigations and Serum level VEGF was measured by a solid phasesandwich enzyme linked immuno-sorbent-assay (ELISA), in which apolyclonal antibody specific for human VEGF has been coated into thewells of the micro titer strips provided.
