This work aims:1- To study the parttern of cerebral strokes in patients attendingemergency unit of internal medicine in Zagazig UniversityHospital.2- To study the short term outcome (15 days) of the various stroketypes.3- To study some epidemiological parameters as age, sex, risk factorsassociated with various types of strokes.-),In this work we have studied all stroke patients admitted toZagazig University Hospitals Medical Intensive Care Unit (lCU) fromOctober 2001 to September 2002. The study included 834 patients.449 males and 385 females, their ages ranged from 12 to 95 years.The study revealed that (560) patients had ischemic stroke while (274)patients had hemorrhagic stroke.The present work was carried out to evaluate the pattern ofcerebrovascular diseases among these patients and the possibleunderlying risk factors.
