Abstract:
Patients with head & neck cancer have been reported to have a high incidence of immunologic deficiencies CPapenhausen# et al.# 1979). Prostaglandins have been suspected to mediate the immunologic deficiencies of these patients. Prostaglandins, particularly PGE and PGE , have been shown in number of in• vitro assays to adversely affect the immune response. CWebb & Nowowiejski# 1977). The aim of this work is to shed some light on PGE2 and I its effects on cellular immunity in patients with malignant 1 tumours of head & neck.Our study included 40 patients with malignant tumour of head & neck and 20 controls. All cases were subjected to (I) Full history and clinical examination and special investigation to confirm the diagnosis. (II) surgical biopsy was taken and divided into parts. First part will be fixed in buffered formaline, then five serial paraffin sections were prepared and stained as follows : one section was stained with haematoxline and eosin, the second was stained with trichrome, the third and
