Abstract:
Summary Fungal diseases are assuming increasing Lmpor t.ance I clinical medicine, and knowledge of the a n t i funga.L ’ugs with respect to spectrum of acti vi ty and toxicity essential. The ideal antifungal agent should possess the l Iow i ng charact.eristics: (1) potent activi t y against ngal pathogens, (2) flexibility of parenteral or oral ministration, (3) no toxicity, (4) favourable armacokinetics, including effective penetration into all ssue compartments, complete bioavailability and edictable adjustment, if any, of dosage in renal or patic insufficiency, and (5) low c o no antifungal agent which fulfill these aracterist ics.
