EFFECT OF VITAMIN A ON THE NASAL MUCOSA IN PATIENTS WITH PRIMARY ATROPHIC RHINITIS

Abstract:
In our study thirty cases of primary atrophic rhinitisdivided into three groups. The first group includingpatients under oral therapy of vitamin A for one month,second group including ten patients under intramuscularof vitamin A for one month and the third groupten patients managed by local vitamin A injectionsnthe inferior turbinate for one month.All cases included in the study were subjected to the• Full clinical examination.• E.N.T. examination.• Histopathologicaltherapy.examination pre & post vitamin AThe majority of cases lied in the age group between 10-years six were males and twenty four were females. Thisshowed that the main characteristic of atrophichistopathologically was glandular atrophy of bothmucous and serous glands, the squamous metaplasia of theepithelium,and the fibrosis and subintimalinflammatory cell infiltration.
