The aim of this study was to study apoptosis in both common and lesscommon types of colopathies in Egypt by detection ofBcl-2 oncogen via IHCstaining (inhibitor of apoptosis).This work was carried out on 90 cases, 15 with schistosomal colitis, 15with amoebic colitis, 15 with IBS, 10 with ulcerative colitis, 10 with benignadenomas, 10 with adenocarcinoma and lastly 15 normal controls. They weresubjected to; full history taking, complete physical examination, stoolanalysis, proctosigmoidoscopy, rectal snip examination and biopsy forhistopathological staining with Hematoxylin and Eosin and IHC staining fordetection ofBcl-2 oncogen expression.
