Surgical correction of nasal valve obstruction

Abstract:
This study was planned to include patients suffering from nasal valveobstruction due to weakened or deformed upper lateral cartilage which maybe associated with deviated septum or hypertrophied inferior turbinate.In these case reconstruction of the upper lateral cartilage was doneusing various types of cartilage grafts (Septal or conchal) through closedapproach. This was accompanied by septolasty or turbinoplasty whenindicated.According to the type of cartilage graft used the cases were dividedinto two groups :The 1st gro.!!I! (15 patients): had been operated using septal cartilage graft.The 2nd group (15 patients): had been operated using conchal cartilage graft.Pre-operatively, all patients were subjected to the following:-History.Clinical examination.Nasal endoscopy and photography.Rhinomanometry.Post-operatively, all patients were subjected to the following:Serial clinical examination.Serial nasal endoscopy and photography.Serial Rhinomanometry.
