Treatment of peyronie’s disease with intralesional verapamil ingection

Abstract:
Summary This work intalied 40 patients attending the out patient clinics of Zagazig University Hospital, Dermatology and Venereology Department along more than 2 years Ten cases did not complete the course of treatment and follow up and hence they were excluded. The remaining 30 patients were classified according to clinical presentation of the disease into 3 groups Group 1 included 2 patients and they were discovered accidentlty without complaining of any symptoms but when examined they showed small fibrotic plaques. Group 11: entalied 7 patients presented with noticeable pain or curvature during erection without affection of sexual performance. Gl”OUP III: included the 21 patients remained, were showing severe pain, curvature or erectile dysfunction. All patients were subjected to thorough history taking, general examination including blood pressure, pulse and heart examination, genita1 examination including penile deformities or fibrous plaques as well as colour duplex ultrasound investigation. Our patients were exposed to penile block with 10 cc 1 % xylocaine, then a standardized dose; 10mg of verapamil in an intravenous solution were given in a multiple puncture technique. The drug was given every 2 weeks for a course of 12 or 24 sittings with follow up of; plaques size, number and consistency pain, curvature as well as erectile power.
