Study of esophageal motility in patients with irritable bowel syndrome

This study is concerned with studying the esophageal motilitydisorders in patients with LB.S to assess whether functional disorder inLB.S involves the colon alone or it may also involves the esophagusThis study was conducted on ~O candidates divided into two groups:t” group:40 patients with symptoms suggestive of I.B.S. selected according toRome criteria.2nd group:- 10 normal controls.All patients were subjected to full history taking and thoroughclinical examination, stool analysis, fasting blood sugar, liver and kidneyfunction tests, abdominal ultrasonography, barium enema, colonoscopybarium- meal, upper GIT endoscopy, esophageal manometry study and 24hourpH monitoring.
