Abstract:
Allergic rhinitis is the msot common chronic diseaseof the respiratory system occuring in approximately 10-15% ofthe total population, its long standing nasal symptoms areusually troublesome for the patients and its response to theother known methods of treatment is disappointing and poor.So, the aim of this work is to study the effect ofacupuncture ’-Traditional Chinese Medicine) as a new, safe andinnocuous modality in treatment of allergic rhinitis and theimprovement in symptomatology as regard nasal obstruction,rhinorrhea, sneezing and headache.This study was conducted on fifty patients sufferingfrom allergic rhinitis (22 males and 28 females) werese le c t e c from the out-patient cl inic of the E.N. T. Departmentand treated in the Acupuncture Unit, Zagazig UnviersityAll patients were subjected to’ the followingDetailed and thorough history taking.Clinical assessment before the start of treatment byperforming routine general and full oto-rhinolarygologicalexaminations.oft h e 0 the r 1 i ne s 0 f me d i cat ion d u r i n 9 t heacupuncture therapy to avoid the misleading results.
