Abstract:
Preeclampsia is the development of hypertension with either proteinuria, oedema or both, during or immediately with in 48 hours after gestation.it occurs after the 20th week of pregnancy and is predominantly a disorder of primigravidas.Eclampsia is the occurrence of one or more convulsions of the grand mal type in a patient with preeclampsia.the term toxaemia of pregnancy is now replaced by hypertension(pih) and pregnancy aggravated hypertension (p.a.h.) the incidence of preeclampsia-eclampsia varies from region to region and occurs in approximately 7 % of all pregnancies and the incidence is markedly higher in some conditions.
