STUDY OF BONE METABOLISM IN CASES OF DIABETES MELLITUS

SUMMARYAND--CONCLUSIONOur study was conducted during the year 1988 in the Oepar-tment of ”Clinical Pathology”, Zagazig University Hospitals.Our study comprised 80 subjects, 20 of which were healthycontrol group and 60 diabetic patients, the diabetic patients wereclassified into two groups : Insulin dependent diabetic group of 24patients and non insulin dependent diabetic group of 36 patients.Full medical history was taken from all subjects followed bythese investigations : Serum glucose level, serum calcium level, serumphosphorus level and serum alkaline phosphatase level.Our results showed that, there was no significant difference inthe calcium level in both lOOM and NlOOM compared to controlgroup. Also, there was non significant difference in the calcium levelbetween lOOM group and NlOOM group.Our study showed also, that : there was no significant differencein the phosphorus level in both lOOM group and NlOOM group compare.
