Abstract:
275 Egyptian individuals ranging in age from theneonatal period to above 50 years of age were examinedclinically and subjected to serological investigations todetermine the prevalence of EBV infection.This was achieved by careful clinical examination,carried out for all individuals and laboratoryinvetigations comprising of blood picture includingobservation of the morphology of lymphocytes, liverfunction tests detection of specific antibodies againstEVB of the 19G type by ELlSA technique and performingtest for hetrophi le antibodies using direct s I ideagglutination test for ii\fectious mononucleosis. Theresults revealed that 215 (78.1%) showed EBV specificantibodies of the 19G type.
