Abstract:
In patients with coronary disease and poor left ventricular function, bypass grafting remains a surgical challenge. This study evaluates theshort term outcome of 50 patients with coronary artery disease and poorleft ventricular function. We compared the results in 25 patients with offpump CABG group (A), with 25 patients with traditional CABG group(B). All patients were symptomatic for angina before surgery and hadmultivessel coronary artery disease. Both groups were evaluated immediate postoperatively duringhospital stay by haemodynamic monitoring and serial ECGs, and after 6months by clinical evaluation and by stress myocardial perfusionscanning (MPS) using tc99 and echo cardiography. The mean follow upperiod was 8.5 months (minimum 6.5, maximum 13).Out of the 50 patients, 7 cases showed positive results for stressMPS, 4 cases in (group A) and 3 in (group B). Most patients showedmarked improvement of their Ejection fraction and anginal functionalclass.ceoneLtsiaem The off pump CABG seems to have nearly thesame short term results of traditional CABG.
