Abstract:
This study was conducted in Zagazig University Hospitals, Obstetricsand Gynecology department during the period from September 2001toSeptember 2002. It compressed 40 patients with the diagnosis ofearlypregnancy failure up to 8 weeks gestation. The patients were randomlydivided into two groups: group I (n=20 cases) was received (400llg)misoprostol orally, group II (n=20 cases) were received (800llg)misoprostol vaginally the patients were kept in bed after drug insertionfor one hour.In this study misoprostol was given In two different doses (400~gorally and 800llg vaginally) to assess the efficacy ofthis drug in inducingspontaneous expulsion, and to compare the two doses as regards efficacy,complications, and rapidity. (the latent period) (the time passed betweent. misoprostol administration and the beginning of uterine contractions) was2.02±0.64 hours in group II and 1.7±0.77 hours in group I. Meanexpulsion time was 8.5±2.25 hr and 7±2.11 hr in group I and IIrespectively in the successfully treated cases. There was significantdifference between both groups as regards mean expulsion time.
