Abstract:
this study was carried out at clinical pathology department faculty of medicine, zagazig university at the period from 10 2001 to 4/2002. this study included 50 subgects classified into 6 groups.Study of Megakaryocyte Ploidy in Patients with Abnormal Platelet CountsPatients with Abnormal Platelet Countsfrom this study we concluded that:* Flow cytometric analysis of MK ploidy distribution in patients withthrombocytopenia may be diagnostically useful by discriminatingbetween disorders of platelet production and destruction.* The modal ploidy distribution in normal human bone marrow is 16 N.* There is shift to the low ploidy MKs with thrombocytopenia secondary tohypersplenism, thrombocytopenia due to impaired platelet productionand CML associated with thrombocytosis.* There is shift to the high ploidy MKs with ITP and reactivethrombocytosis.* No correlation between platelet count and megakaryocyte ploidy.
