Mechanical ventilation in adult

the aim of this is to discussthe role of anaesthesiologist with ventilatory supported patients.to mechanically ventilate a patient one must understand normal lung physiology and the effect of mechanical ventilation on this normal physiology.the important points in respiratory physiology are: the mechanism of normal respiration , the work of breathing which comprises all energy required to ventilate the lungs and factors which affect it.Elastic resistance of the lung surface tension of fluid lining the alveoli resistance of non elastic tissue and fructional tree, are all forces tending to prevent the inflation and increase work of breathing.
