Abstract:
the term opiates was once used to designate drugs derived from opium as morphine, codeine and the many semi-synthetic congeners of morphine.soon after the development of totally synthetic entities with morphin-like actions, the word narcotic analgesics was introduced to refer , in generic sense, to all drugs naturally and synthetic, with morphine-like actions.Narcotic analgesics can be classified into three groups1- narcotic agonists:morphine and morpine like opioids.2-narcotic antagonists.3-narcotics with mixed actions : these include the agonist-antagonists.
