the aim of this research is to clearify several notes about neonates such as neonatal assessment at birth , apgar score, neurobehaviour of the neonates by applying several tests to know the response of the child , he is normal or mentally retarded, I tried also to discuss a serious complication as a result of surfactant deficiency the hyaline membrance disease and its sequal, prognosis, prevention , treatment , the most recent treatment is the discovery of replacement of surface active material.
