Mesenteric Angiography in some colonic diseases

Abstract:
In this study, we examined 90 patients angiographically,ten of them requested for di fferent abdomina 1 angiographieshaving no signs and symptoms related to the gastrointestinaltract,. were considered as a control cases to show some of thedifferent anatomical variations.The remaining eighty patients suffered from differentcolonic masses, were divided to three main groups:1- Group of abdominal masses related to the colon, com-·prised 55 patients.2- Group of chronic diarrhea comprised 20 patients.3- Group of bleeding per rectum comprised 5 patients.In the group of abdominal masses related to the colon, wemet 20 patients with adenocarcinoma of the cecum and ascendingcolon, three patients with inflammatory masses in the splenicflexure and the descending colon, 19 patients with adenexialmasses. 9 patients wi th haemangioma of the rectum and sigmoid.In addition to two patients with lymphoma, one patient with colo-nic invasion and another one with hydatid cyst.In all of the them, dispersion, displacement and splayingof vessels were the main findings, yet beeding pooling andearly draining veins were also encountered occasionaly.
