Abstract:
To study the possible role played by iron, folate and alumin-ium in anemia of renal failure and to clarify the effect of hemo-dialysis On such factors, the present study was carried out On 3groups of subjects.The reference group, consisted of 20 healthysubjects (13 males and 7 females), their age ranged from 21-27year s, the second group comprised 25 non-dialysed uremic pat-ients (18 males and 7 females), their age ranged from 20 to 64years, while the third group consisted of 25 hemodialysed-uremicpatients (17 males and 8 females), their age was ranging from22- 58 years.Fasting blood samples and 24 hours urine collections aretaken from all subject s for the following inve stigation:Assessment of renal function:(1) Urine analysis including:Measurement of specific gravity.Estimation of proteins in urine.Microscopic examination for pus cells, and casts.Midstream urine culture.(2) Determination of blood urea.(3) Determination of Se rum creatinine.
