Abstract:
Our study was carried out at both obstetric and Biochemistry departments Faculty of Medicine. Zagazig university .It include 75 pregnant women and their full term infants who were subdivided into nonsmoker , passive smokers and active smoker groups .All cases are subjected to:1.Full history taking including2.Full clinical examination.3.Plasma concentration of vitamin A,E, β carotene and MDA at delivery and day 4 using high performance lipid chromatography analysis.Our results were tabulated and statistically analyzed .Our results showed that infants of active and passive smoking mothers had a significant lower mean birth weight than infants of nonsmoking mothers. Also showed that ,lower but not significant, mean birth weight of infants of active smoking than infants of passive smoking mothers.There is a lower level of antioxidant vitamins E & A in passive and active smoking mothers in relation to nonsmoking mothers .
