Abstract:
The subjects of this study were 60 eyes of 48 patients, from those attending the ophthalmology clinics at Zagazig University hospital from August 2003 to August 2005. Their ages ranged from 5 to 68 years with a mean of 40 ± 21.53 years. 36.7% were female and 63.3% were male.The cause of apkakia was:1) Traumatic cataract with posterior capsule tears, not implanted at primaryinterference, 25(41.16%) cases.2) Congenital cataract, which removed by lensectomy or those who didn’t have enough capsular support or patent sulcus for posterior chamber IOL implantation ,17(28.33%) cases.
