Abstract:
Apoptosis has become one of the most prolific subjects of biomedical research as it is a part of tissue homeostasis. It is thought to play an important role in regulating different steps in skeletal development and maturation, and interferes with bone modeling and remodeling (Clark and Clark, 1996 and Jacobson and McCarhy, 2002). Therefore, the present work was designed to study the histological structure of the long bone during development, using an albino rat as an experimental model. In addition, it was aimed to investigate the role of apoptosis and its functional relationship with bone histogenesis.
