Abstract:
Cardiomyopathy is still of unknown etiology. Our worktries to prove the relation between some of trace elements andcardiomyopathy to help us for diagnosis, management andprevention of cardiomyopathy.Trace elements are those elements which occur in the bodyat very low concentrations. It is now realised that despite theirlow concentrations, many of these elements have importanteffects on the human body.Continued ingestion of diets or continued exposure to totalenvironment that are deficient, inbalanced or excessively high ina particular trace element induces changes in the functionningforms, activities or concentrations of that element in the bodytissues and fluids so that they fall below or rise above thepermissible limits. In these circumstances, biochemical defectsdevelop, physiological functions are affected, and structuraldisorder may arise in ways which differ with different elementswith the degree and duration of the dietary deficiency or toxicityand with age, sex and species of the animal involved. Protectivemechanisms can be extremely effective over prolonged periods. These protective mechanisms may be brought into play which candelay or minimize the onset of such diet - induced changes andcan ultimately prevent deleterious changes. The individual mustbe supplied with a diet that is palatable and non toxic andcontaining the required elements in adequate amounts in properproportions and in available forms.
