Abstract:
In chronic renal failure, blood cells andplasma are exposed to reactive oxygen species(ROS) generated by the reaction of oxygen with a large variety of compounds derived from cellular metabolism, dietary uptake, and xenobiotics. An imbalance between antioxidants and oxidants generating systems leading to on oxidative stress has already been proposed in the pathogenesis of uremia in chronic failure patient.the aim of this study was to evaluate some antioxidants e.g. glutathione, oxidized glutathione, glutathione peroxidase and selenium in uremic patients under conservative treatment, maintenance hemodialysis or regular peritoneal dialysis.
