Abstract:
In this 2 normal volunteers and 24 patients suffering from obstructive uropathy were studied to assess the role of MRU in detecting the level and couse of ureteric obstruction.IVU was done for 18 patients and was cantraindicated for the other 6 patients due to uraemia. this wasbased on S.creatinine level and confirmed by scintigraphy technique. 16 patients showed obstructed nonvisualized kidneys after IVU.As US is inexpensive and widely available, it can be considered the initial study used to determine the presence or absence of urinary dilatation. US accurately demonstrated pelvicalyceal dilatation in all our patients.
