Study of anticardiolipin antibodies and lupus anticoagulants in young ischaemic stroke patients with consideration of other risk factors

Abstract:
The present work was carried out to study anticardiolipin antibodies (aCL) and lupus anticoagulants (LA), the two most common antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL), in ischaemic strok in young adults with consideration of other stroke risk factors.We have studied 56 acute ischaemic stroke patients admitted to the intensive care unit and medical emergency unit, Zagazig University hospitals during the period from august, 1995 to June, 1998, our patients were divided into two groups according to their ages: group (A) inc luding 31 patients (16 males and 15 females) aged 20-40 years, and group (B) including 25 patients (13 males and 12 females), aged 41 -60 years. ten healthy control subjects ”6 males and 4 females”, 20-40 years old were also studied.
