The role of radiotherapy in the management of meningiomas

The present study was planned to evaluate the role ofradiotherapy inthe management of meningiomas. the study included 50 patients presented to radiation oncology unit of zagazig and aim shams university hospitals during the period from may 1995 to may 1998 all patients were subjected to complete history and physical examination, neurological examination, CBC and CT or MRI evaluation before study There were randomized into two groups each of 25 patients :Group A : was treated by surgery with adjuvant- postoperative external megavoltage radiotherapy. A dose of 5500 cGy in dialy fraction of 180 cGy, 5 days per week for bening meningoma roup B :Was treated by surgery alone.
