Abstract:
The basic principle of GFS is to create an opening or fistula at the limbus which allows aqueous humor to drain from AC GFS may fail due to intra-ocular, scleral or extra ocular causes. Scarring and adhesions of the subconjunc-tival tissue are the common causes.Chen (1983) was the first to use MMc as an adjunct treatment during glaucoma filtration surgery to improve the success rate; he proved that a single intra- operative application of MMc to the area of filtration markedly enhanced filtering effectiveness.Questions persist about the recommended location for application of MMc during Trabeculectomy. Some authors prefer to place the cellulose sponge soaked with MMc solution between the conjunctive Tenon’s capsule and episclera before scleral at flap dissection. Others recommend first fashioning the scleral flap and then placing the sponge in the scleral bed, under dissected flap. The present study was done to evaluate the different technique of mitomycin-C application is cases of complicated glaucoma.
