Abstract:
Venous thrombosis and its sequelae are among the most challenging, least understood and neglected problems in medicine. The clinical diagnosis of these disorders is difficult and their prevention and long-term treatment are unsatisfactory and subjects of considerable controversy.The present study reviews the problem of deep venous thrombosis of the lower limbs as a major post – operative complication. Deep vein thrombosis affect in most cases the deep veins of the lower limbs especially those of the calf muscles, popliteal vein and femoral vein and the anatomical features of the deep vein is discussed with its application in the clinical situation.
