Abstract:
This work was done on 45 patients with chronic liver diseases and 10 healthy individuals were taken as control group .The aim of this work was the study of the value of measuring liver volume in patients with chronic liver diseases and if it can be taken as a prognostic tool , either alone or with other parameters.All patients and controls were subjected to the following studies :A ) Clinical studies : which included history and clinical examination .B ) Laboratory studies :1-Liver function tests:2- Kidney function tests including blood urea and serum creatinine .3- Complete blood count .4- Hepatitis viral markers:C ) Liver imaging studies :- Abdominal ultra-sound .- 3-dimensional computed tomography .The clinical state of all patients were graded according to Child-Pugh score .They were observed for morbidity in the form of hepatic encephalopathy or post-operative complications .After measuring liver volume by 3D CT , we studied its relations with different parameters in both patients and controls , its relation with severity of the disease , its relation with Child-Pugh classification , and its relation with morbidity .
