Abstract:
Allergic rhinitis is a symptom complex resultingfrom exposure to a specific antigen. Its prevalence mayaccount up to 15% of the total population in some coun-tries. So, it is one of the commonly encountered condi-tions in the practice of otorhinolaryngology.Disodium cromoglycate nasal application is con-sidered a beneficial symptomatic treatment in cases ofallergic rhinitis.Many workers had reported the clinical beneficialaction of D.S.C.G. but neither of them evaluated itshistopathological and histochemical effect on the allergicmucosa.The present work was conducted on twenty patientssuffering from persistant perennial nasal allergy. Theywere subjected to detailed and thorough analysis ofcomplaints. Full otorhinological examination,radiologicalexamination of the paranasal sinuses, intracutaneousskin tests and nasal challenge tests. Biopsies weretaken after establishment of diagnosis.
