Dissemminated intravascular coagulation

Disseminated intravascular coagulation:In the past it is named and known as afibrinogenemia or hypofibrinogenemia.it is never primary but always secondary to general stimulation of coagulation activity by release of procoagulant into the blood.The sendrome occurs as follows:About 50% of individuals are obstetric patients having certain complications of pregnancy, another 33 % having cancer specially prostate, lung and stomach.the remaining are varied and include, septicemia, infec-tions, various types of shocke, trauma, liver diseases incompatable blood transfusion cyanosis, acidosis and major operations.there is rapid consumption of coagul-ation factors including platelets in the same time the fibrinolytic system is activated.
