Abstract:
Fifty women participated in this study.They were sub groupedinto 15 normal healthy wo rrie n (controls) and 35 women who weresuffering from’ acute appendicitis.The latter group consisted of15 catarrhal, 10 perforated and 10 obstructive appendicitis.Each case was subjected to full clinical examination in orderto exclude other factors that are expected to interfere with thevalidity of results of APPs.Plasma or serum obtained by venepuncture from each case,was as sayed quantitatively for the determination of acute phasereactants namely; complement 4 (C ), alpha-I-antitrypsin ( C\IAT),4alpha-2-macroglobin (0( 2M), haptoglobin (HP), alpha-I-acid glyco-protein (0(’ IAG) and fibrinogen, by using the radial immunodiffu-sion technique.Comparative studyis done between various pathologicalgroups and controls.In perforated appendicitis, the levels of serum c< lA T, 0(2 MG,r ul opl a s rn i.n and plasma fibrinogen were significantly elevatedn compared to the corresponding levels of normal controls.
