Abstract:
this work was done wi th the aim to search for thepresence of alloimmunization against red cell antigensin forty six multi transfused patienly: twenty Beta-ed patients and one multi transfused patient subj ectedto simple mastectomy (group 11).No antibody to red cell antigens has been detectedin cases of Beta thalassemia major, while in the secondgroup two cases were alloimmunized to red cell antigens. Thus the percentage of alloimmunization in our studyto red cell antigen was 4- 3%. The first case shownto give positive alloimmunization to red cell antigenfemale multipara patient aged, 55 years, nonhemodialysed, underwent surgical operation! for simpleEstectomy since one and half years. She was multitran-sfused as a preoperative preparation. She was of groupBand Rh-nega ti ve. She was typed for ABO but not fortransfusion therapy. Whe she had receivedthe second time, she developed a transfusionreaction which was mild then severe with further trans-Then when subj ected to careful screening and• bshe was found to have anti-D and anti-Fy iner serum and confirmed by finding the absence of theseo antigens in her red cells.
