Adult respiratory distress syndrome

Ards is still a major lethal form of noncardiac pulmonary oedema which affects patients who were previously in good health. the ards constitutes 5% of all critical care admissions in western countries with systemic sepsis acounting for 50 %. trauma 15 % cardiopulnnonary bypass 15 % viral pneumonia 10% and drug ingestion 5% of cases.pathological mechanisms are variable and comrise disordered neutrophil kinetics, complement activation and a supposed role of haemostasis in the generation of indirect lung injury.
