Abstract:
This-study was carried out at psychiatry department ZagazigUniversity Hospital.The aim of this study was to demonstrate any relationship betweenrelapse of schizophrenic patients and some biological and psychosocialfactors.The study consists of two main parts:(I) The theoretical part where, an extensive review of literature was carriedout and, it was divided into 4 chapters. 1,[ chapter reviewed definition,diagnosis, types, etiology of schizophrenia and outcome ofschizophrenia. 2nd chapter was assigned to discus, role of immunity inschizophrenia with proper care of cytokines especially IL-2 and its rolein schizophrenia. 3fd chapter focused on stressful life events andprecipitation of schizophrenia. Finally, the last chapter delt with thepsychosocial factors and their role in relapse, we have discussed indetailes development. the concept of Expressed Emotion and how tomeasure. Different opinions and criticism of this term were mentioned.(II) The practical part:One hundred schizophrenic patients were recruited for this study.They have been divided equally into two groups, the first 50 as the relapsedgroup and the other 50 as non-relapsed group.They were selected randomly from patients admitted to psychiatrydepartment in Zagazig university Hospital and those attending out patientclinic. In addition to patients attending out patients clinic in the HealthInsurance Organization.
