Abstract:
Synovial tissue is the origin of a wide spectrum of lesions varying in severity from non-neoplastic lesions to aggressive malignant tumors.Synovial cysts and ganglia are quite common as they represent 50¬70% of all soft tissue tumours of hand and wrist. Pigmented villonodular synovitis is a wide term that also comprises giant cell tumor of tendon sheath and villonodular bursitis.Benign tumors of the synovium are less common than tumor like lesions. They are mainly in the form of synovial lipoma, synovial fibroma and synovial haemangioma.
